Shea Foundation to begin construction

November 18, 2012 by Principal

St. Michael’s School and playground will have an unbelievable makeover starting December 22nd and be completed by the return to school on January 14th. The Shea Foundation is funding the largest part with other generous donors suppling the rest. They will start by taking up all the cement playground on the yard closest to the church parking lot and put in a new playground equipment for our students and also for  children playing in the evening. They will also put in a smaller version of equipment on the other side of building for our youngest students being the Transitional and kindergarten classes. Secondly they will be doing a complete over haul of the bathrooms with tile, toilets, lighting, sinks, and many other essentials that are needed. The estimate given by the contractors was that the bathrooms were probably first done in the late 30’s or early 40’s. We believe that 70 years is probably long enough to wait for new facilities. With this construction there is a down side which is we will need to take an extra week of Christmas Vacation and loss a week of school. The teacher are planning on how we can make up this classroom time with homework and tutoring.
