St. Michael’s Bathrooms Remodeling

February 20, 2013 by Principal

In early November the Shea Corporation contacted us about remodeling our four student bathrooms. It had been at least 20 years since the last work had been done so it was about time. After only a few meetings we were able agree on a work schedule that would start and finish during our Christmas Vacation. The only obstacle was that the work would take three weeks instead of our normal two-week break. Our families were thrilled to having the remodeling done and knew some sacrifice would have to be made and one extra week would be acceptable. Mr. Dan O’Melveny the managing contractor worked with several sub contractors to get all the logistics worked out and on the first day of break the demolition crew started tearing out all existing fixtures and partitions. Work continued with all toilet fixtures being acid bathed to remove stains and look like new. Next an acrylic floor covering was spread over the concrete floor with sand added for a non-slip surface. All plumbing fixture were returned into position with a few new items were old were broken or to stained they were unusable. Stall doors and partitions were fastened into place and the end was insight. Lastly the new lightning and painting were completed on the Saturday before school was to resume The work went like clock work and we would like to thank the Shea Corporation for their generous support and also to Mr. Dan O’Melveny for his planning and eye for details as all work us done without any distractions or harm to students.
